Building on the area’s character

 

Our vision for Bensham & Saltwell is to build on the character of the area and create a range of high quality family homes to suit all pockets, with gardens and public green spaces.

 

Work will include:

 

• New homes to suit families of all sizes.


• Demolition of houses that no longer suit the needs of the community.


• More than 1200 properties will be improved, with new doors and windows, railings and walls and stone and garden work.


• Decent Homes work at Fieldhouse & Claremont Estates, by The Gateshead Housing Company.


 

Other exciting developments in the area will include:

 

• Refurbishment of Gateshead Central Library & Gateshead Leisure Centre.


• Development of an action plan to improve Saltwell Road & Coatsworth Road shopping facilities.


• The development of more than 250 homes on the former Gateshead College site.

Gateshead Private Rented Sector Team

Gateshead Council's private rented sector team, funded by Bridging NewcastleGateshead, the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund and the New Opportunities Fund aims to improve standards in the private rented sector and helps prospective tenants looking to rent from responsible landlords. It also works closely with landlords, providing advice and support, investigating cases of anti-social behaviour and carrying out a vetting service on prospective tenants. Gateshead Private Rented Accreditation Scheme
